Calculating Your GPA
Grade Point Averages are often used to determine your eligibility for selective high school programs and colleges or for your standing on the honor roll or sports teams. To calculate your GPA, set up three columns as shown in the table below. In the first, list your subjects. In the second, after your subject, write your letter grade. In the third column, record your points as follows:
A = 4 points
B = 3 points
C = 2 points
D = 1 point
F = 0 points
Add up the points in the third column. Divide the total by the number of letter grades. This will give you your GPA. To calculate your Academic GPA, which is used for high school admissions, do not include PE.
• Academic GPA= Total Grade Points (not including PE) ÷ Number of Letter Grades
• Overall GPA = Total Grade Points (including PE) ÷ Number of Letter Grades
