GATE/EXCEL

Accelerated Learning and Performance by Students

The ALPS Curriculum is based on the CCSS and is differentiated from the regular program through the most current GATE strategies in teacher-crafted lessons and student-centered learning. This allows students to expand their critical thinking and independent learning skills, preparing them for the rigors of Honors and Advanced Placement classes in high school.

Depth and Complexity

The ALPS program bases much of its differentiation on Dr. Kaplan’s Depth and Complexity model. For example, this might involve looking at the details of the core curriculum from different perspectives. In their lessons, teachers have students discuss ethical issues, trends, or patterns. This model takes the learning to a higher level.

Extracurricular Activities for ALPS We host ALPS Family Nights throughout the year, including an ice cream social and spaghetti dinner. ALPS awards are presented to students to recognize their excellence and perseverance.
